Morning Skate: Elimination day?

Morning skate is a feature that will look at the stories developing each day in these 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and a look ahead to the games on the schedule.

Just a little better?

Despite his .798 save percentage through three games, the Penguins aren’t blaming Fleury for their troubles.

From NHL.com: This isn’t on just you, Bylsma told the goaltender who helped carry the Penguins to the Stanley Cup only three years ago. This 3-0 series deficit against the Philadelphia Flyers isn’t just the result of your play. All of us are responsible, and it will take all of us to dig ourselves out of this monumental hole.

Fleury appreciated the pep talk, but he also couldn’t help but think that if he had been only a little better, the Penguins wouldn’t need to win four consecutive games just to keep their season going. (NHL)

Ok, maybe a lot better:

Suspended indefinitely

Raffi Torres has been suspended indefinitely pending a hearing with Brendan Shanahan. Didn’t see that coming! (TSN)

NHL Players, past and present, weigh in on the Torres hit. (Globe and Mail)

An alternative solution:

Well, I’m not surprised…

Capitals disagree with suspension to Nicklas Backstrom. (Kukla’s Korner)

Philadelphia keeps it classy

On the schedule:

Flyers vs Penguins, 7:30 EST

Senators vs Rangers, 7:30 EST

Kings vs Canucks, 7:00 PST

Two series could be over tonight as both the Canucks and Penguins are facing elimination. From favorites to flops, which team do you think has the best chance to come back?

The Penguins will be short three regular players as forwards Craig AdamsArron Asham and forty-goal scorer James Neal are out serving suspensions. Vancouver may or may not be getting Daniel Sedin back. At this point I assume he will be a game-time decision.

The Senators look to avoid going down 3-1 in their home game against the Rangers tonight. They will likely have to do it without their captain as Daniel Alfredsson remains doubtful with a concussion.

I’ll have a full recap of the games and top stories in my nightly review tonight. Stay tuned!
